「由来」

黒檀・白檀・鉄刀木を唐木三大銘木と呼びます。

かつて中国（唐）を経由して日本に入ってきた高級材。

緻密な職人の技が光る、希少銘木材の万年筆。太めの軸に漆黒の黒檀が用いられ、美しさに加えて重厚感があります。


「産地」

本来東南アジアが主流産地でしたが、現在はアフリカが主流産地で茶と黒の縞黒檀が主流です。真黒い黒黒檀の伐採の影響で近い将来には枯渇する貴重材です。


「特徴」

非常に重く硬い材で、加工は困難を極める。

耐久性に大変優れている。希少な木材であり、使い込むほどに艶が出てくる。

真っ黒の中に浮かぶ木目が美しい。


「色調」

辺材は淡い赤色を帯び、心材は黒色と淡赤色の帯びが交互に配列して縞目を有する。

稀に真っ黒なものもあり、それを本黒檀又は真黒(マグロ) と称し、縞杢を有したものを縞黒檀（シマコクタン・英語ではマッカーサーエボニー）と言う。


「用途」

家具・仏壇・楽器・ゴルフのクラブヘッドなど。

Ebony has been prized for centuries, originally imported to Japan via China during the Tang Dynasty. Its lustrous jet-black grain and substantial weight lend this pen a timeless elegance and unmatched presence. Over time, the surface deepens in sheen, developing a unique character with every use.

🌍 Wood Origin & Significance

While Southeast Asia was once the primary source of ebony, most modern Macassar Ebony now comes from Africa. The deep black “true ebony” is becoming increasingly rare due to overharvesting, making each pen crafted from this material a true collector’s item.

Ebony is traditionally used in fine furniture, Buddhist altars, musical instruments, and luxury sporting goods — a wood revered for both aesthetics and durability.
